“Let the Dead Bury Their Dead”

Seth has finally pieced together his treasure map and knows right where to find it. In the “Let the Dead Bury Their Dead” Red Dead Redemption Mission, you’ll help him fight his way to the thing he’s gone mad in search of and finally get his hands on it.

Unfortunately, the treasure is not exactly what he was expecting.

X Marks the Spot

To get started on this mission, walk into the yellow “X” in Tumbleweed not surprisingly located in the graveyard. Seth is removing the shoes from a fresh corpse when John approaches.

Seth’s treasure is located in the town’s big abandoned mansion. With a little encouragement from John, Seth sets out to find it.

Follow Seth toward the yellow waypoint on your map. This must be some treasure, because before the two of you take two steps into the middle of the abandoned town, you’re attacked by gunmen. Seth surmises they must be more of the Treasure Hunters that attacked you before. Take out the first group of three and take cover before the next squad approaches. Use the red dots on your map to find the bad guys hiding inside buildings and do your best to keep Seth alive.

The Treasure Hunters are entrenched inside the mansion, so take advantage of the ample cover outside to eliminate them one at a time. Make sure you take out the shooter in the upstairs window of the house. Once they’re all dead, move to the front door.

John tries to open it and finds the door locked. There is another entrance around the back of the building, head toward the new yellow waypoint to find it.

Head down into the cellar and watch for two Treasure Hunters to rush down the stairs and attack as you round the corner. Once they’re dealt with, head upstairs and take out two more in the living room. Don’t forget to stop and loot the bodies if you get low on ammo or just want some extra cash.

Head up the main staircase and take out two more bad guys on the upper balcony. The treasure is located in the room on the SW end of the upstairs. One more bad guy stands watch atop the chest inside the room. Once he’s dealt with, Seth rushes forward to collect his treasure. The lock comes off after a few blows from Seth’s knife and he opens the chest.

Unfortunately, the treasure is not what Seth was expecting. A glass eye won’t buy many of the fine things Seth was looking to acquire, but at least his quest is over and he’s now ready to help you get inside Fort Mercer.
