Rockstar’s newest open-world masterpiece is the old-west opus Red Dead Redemption. Whether you’re hunting grizzly bears, taking down outlaws, or riding the range with others online, you’ll be hard pressed to find yourself bored in the game’s massive world
Those who like to explore every nook and cranny of the world will not go unrewarded, as there are Red Dead Redemption achievements and trophies that reward participation in practically every aspect of the game. Check out the full listing below.
For the purposes of this guide, we’ll refer to them all as achievements, but PS3 trophies will be rewarded for performing the same actions on Sony’s console.
If straight up murder is your thing, then the following five Red Dead Redemption achievements are definitely for you. All of these are earned by dispatching large numbers of your enemies with various weapons.
The first,In a Hail of Bullets, is yours when you kill 500 enemies with any pistol or revolver in any game mode. Likewise, Long Arm of Marston is earned by killing 500 enemies with any rifle, repeater, or shotgun and Mowing Them Down is earned by killing 500 enemies with a mounted weapon.
Score a Bullseye when you get 250 headshots in any game mode and become known as The Gunslinger when you score a headshot on any enemy using “expert targeting” mode.
There are two achievements for those who enjoy prowling the countryside in search of animals to prey upon.
Unnatural Selection is awarded to those who kill one of every animal species in the game in any game mode and Bearly Legal is given to those who kill and skin 18 grizzly bears.
Red Dead Redemption is also filled with various activities that players can engage in. Earn achievements for doing work for strangers, capturing bounties, playing various games, or breaking wild horses.
The First, Strange Things are Afoot is earned by completing your first task for a stranger. To earn the People are Still Strange achievement, players must complete 15 tasks for Strangers.
Get the Clemency Pays achievement when you capture a bounty alive. Show off your Exquisite Taste by purchasing a rare weapon from a gunsmith.
If games are more your style, there are three achievements you may want to check out. Earn What About Hand Grenades? when you get a ringer in a game of Horseshoes, High Roller when you win over 2000 chips in a hand of Poker, and No Dice for completing a game of Liar’s Dice without losing a single die. If you’ve got a little cowboy in ya, the Buckin’ Awesome achievement may be of interest. Earn it when you break the Kentucky Saddler, the American Standardbred, and the Hungarian Half-bred.

Single Player Achievements
Like any Rockstar game, there are also a myriad of Red Dead Redemption achievements to earn as you progress through the game’s single player mode.
There are three achievements that you can earn by completing the game’s various hideouts. Get the Austin Overpowered achievement when you complete theTwin Rocks, Pike’s Basin, and Gaptooth Breach hideouts, Evil Spirits after you complete Tumbleweed and Tesoro Azul Hideouts, and Instinto Asesino when you complete the Fort Mercer and Nosalida Hideouts.
To get the Gold Medal achievement, earn a Gold Medal Rank for a combat mission in single player.
Earn either the Man of Honor or Chivalry’s Dead achievement when you attain the highest fame rank and either the highest or lowest honor rank. For completionists, the Redeemed achievement is awarded when you reach 100% completion in the single-player game.
Channel Russel Crowe to earn the Fightin’ Around the World achievement when you knowck someone out in melee in every saloon in the game. Afterward, show off your Friends in High Places when you use a pardon letter after earning a bounty of more than $5000.
The He Cleans Up Well! achievement is earned when you obtain the Elegant Suit in game. Earn the On the Trail of de Vaca achievement when you uncover every location on the map in Single Player
Make like a Regulator when you create a posse with the maximum number of members and earn the Posse Up! achievement. To become a Frontiersman, obtain a legendary rank in any single player Ambient Challenge.
If money is your thing, you can earn the More than a Fistful achievement when you earn a total of $10,000 in Single Player.
Online Multiplayer Achievements
Online Multiplayer Achievements
If competing (or cooperating) with other players online is more your speed, there are a handful of Red Dead Redemption achievements that are just for you.
Be on the winning team for four consecutive victories in any team-based, public match game and earn the Go Team! achievement. Get the Have Gun Will Travel achievement when you complete all Hideouts in a single public Free Roam session.
Learn How the West Was Won when you reach the top rank for multiplayer experience, and discover the difference between The Quick and Everyone Else… when you become to top-scoring player in any three consecutive FFA games.
You’ll need to get started early to earn the Hit the Trail achievement, awarded when you get from Blackwater to Escalara before sundown in a public Free Roam session.
Like the similar viral achievement in Grand Theft Auto IV, get the Red Dead Rockstar achievement when you kill a Rockstar or someone who already has the achievement in a public multiplayer match.
Finally, earn the Slow on the Draw achievement when you get 10 assists in a single Hideout in a public Free Roam session.
In addition to these achievements, there are an additional 12 secret achievements that can be earned in Red Dead Redemption. Six of these have escalating point values, indicating that they are probably awarded for completing major missions within the game and are hidden to avoid spoiling the plot.
