THQ distributed the popular role playing game, Titan Quest, which was developed in 2006 by Iron Lore Entertainment. While this article shows things from the core, or unexpanded game, it does have one expansion in Immortal Throne (put out in 2007). In 2008, Iron Lore closed its doors and left thousands of avid fans still playing their game. Both online and offline, Titan Quest brings the lore and legend of ancient times to the PC by using a familiar Diablo-style interface.

Spirit Mastery

Spirit Mastery in this game is where you will be able to get into your enemy’s minds and exploit their spiritual energy. The skills are designed to give you power over your enemy with health and energy leeches, and undead manipulation. These special attacks will help to make the game yours. One of the most powerful ones in the game is Necrosis, where your enemies succumb to you sapping their power out right before your eyes.

There are seven specialty combinations that you can have with Spirit Mastery. Pairing the Spirit with Earth gives a Conjurer, and with Storm creates an Oracle. These are classified as Full Casters. With the Nature Mastery it is a Soothsayer which is classified as a caster. The others are classified as a hybrid. These are Spirit with Warfare for the Spellbreaker class, with Defense for the Spellbinder class, with Hunting for the Bone Charmer class, and with Rogue for the Warlock class.

These combination classes will only open up the ability to take from the skills in each of the two masteries you select. I can’t tell you what a Bone Charmer is going to play like, because you are going to create it customized to your playing style.

These hybrid classes (rather than pure masteries where only one is selected) merely give you more spells and actions to try in the game. Read through all the masteries before you decide on which to choose as you can’t change them afterwards like you can change your skills.

It can be powered up to 8 levels.

Summon Outsider is an active summon where you can summon an extra dimensional ally to aid you. It is available at character level 32 and can be powered up to 16 levels. The summoned ally only remains for 30 seconds and their strength is dependent on the level of the skill.

Pairing Advice

With these twenty skills, you are better equipped to pair up with the Storm or the Earth mastery. This will give you not only your lethal and fun Ternion Attack but will give either the ice and lightning damage with Storm or the Fire damage from Earth. It’s one of the most fun and damage-dealing builds in the game.

With the Spirit Mastery skills you will want to put on as many items as possible that give a good intelligence boost unless you are going to work the melee route in the game, and then you will need a nice even blend of intelligence and strength. Whichever your path, go over all the skills in the game to see which pure build (just having one mastery) or which hybrid (having the two masteries that you are allowed in the game) you would like to play.
