Savage Combat

Everyone’s favorite clawed, invincible, self-healing mutant is none other than Wolverine from the X-Men. And while it might be fun to imitate the gruffly-voiced hero with paper claws and spandex workout clothes, it might be more fun to play your own variation of the iconic hero in Champions Online Free-For-All. There’s even a brand new archetype on the game that helps players build their very own Weapon X and this Champions Online guide for The Savage can help.

The Role Of The Savage

Interestingly enough, the Savage can be used in a number of different support or main roles whether playing solo or with a party. As a striker or DPS centric class the Savage is excellent for single-targets or bosses. Alternatively, given that the super stats for the Savage are Strength and Constitution, just like the Behemoth, this enables the Savage to take on support roles like a tank.

Depending on your play style you can modify the powers and stats of the Savage to suit the sort of role you have planned for the archetype, and unlike classes like the Inferno or Grimoire, there are more play style options for the Savage, which makes it a fun archetype to experiment with.

Playing Tips For The Savage

Playing solo is sort of straight forward for this archetype because you only have melee attacks (for the most part) at your disposal, so jumping right into the fray and letting loose on any enemies in front or near you is about the best option when playing by yourself.

If you plan on building the Savage as a tank then going with science or mysticism would be the better R&D option given that you’ll definitely need the shield and health devices offered from science to help with the regenerative powers. This combination can nearly make the Savage a hard nut to crack when built up as a tank. In addition to this, you can use Science as a way to make some extra drones that can help during combat to even up some of the odds either soloing or during PvP.

Given that there aren’t any mobility inhibiting or a variety of stun attacks in the arsenal of the Savage, it would be wise to bring glue bombs with you into combat when doing PvP. For the most part, try to stick with a partner during PvP when going against flying characters or teleporters to compensate for the lack of projectiles at the Savage’s dispoal
