Overview

_

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is a brand new MMORPG from EA/Mythic, the developers of the hit games Dark Age of Camelot and Ultima Online. Keeping with the fantasy genre, Warhammer takes the rich story and lore from the award winning Warhammer Miniatures and role-playing games and immerses the player into a robust fantasy world, fighting in a war of survival and domination. Warhammer is a very Player versus Player oriented game, being one of few in its class that heavily reward the player for participating in PvP combat, both with experience points, loot, and redeemed rewards. Warhammer also launched with many features that popular MMORPG’s have just recently introduced in the past few months - and some that havn’t been seen at all. Warhammer developers opted for a feature-rich player experience over superfluous use of dazzling graphics that may look pretty, but don’t add much to the game and also make it difficult to run.

Storyline and Lore (5 out of 5)

For decades now, the lore behind Warhammer has been developed, expanded, and enhanced for the Miniatures and Role-playing games. It would be impossible for one game, even an MMORPG, the embody all that has been done with Warhammer. Mythic decided to set their award-winning MMORPG in a time known as the Age of Reckoning.

The forces of Chaos, front the northern regions, launch a massive assult against the human empire, empowered by Tzeench - the god of Change and Mutation. They unleash a massive plague that not only kills thousands of the Empires soldiers and citizens, but mutates them into ghoulish soldiers for the Chaos armies. In danger of erradication, the Empire calls on the High Elves to bolster their defense to drive back the invaders. With the High Elves distracted, their malicious kin, the Dark Elves, launch an offensive against the High Elf stronghold. At the same time, the Dark Elf Witch King sends for the leaders of the Greenskins, gifting them with magical amulets imbued with power to rally the Greenskin tribes and attack the Dwarven empire. With all wars in full swing, the players enter the frey to fight for survival - or in the case of the Destruction, to conquer and obliterate.

Features (5 out of 5)

Warhammer launched with so many amazing and unique features that it would be impossible to cover all of them. Many of the biggest features in Warhammer are related to being a part of a guild, but there are plenty of other features that may or may not be familiar to an experienced MMORPG player.
