The Complete Runescape Fletching Guide to Get to 99 Fast
Page content

This Runescape fletching guide has been created in order to show Runesacpe players how to get 99 fletching fast. This 99 fletching guide will begin by explaining how to get to 40 fletching, then go through various ways in order to train from 40 fletching all the way to 99 fletching by making bows out of willow logs, yew logs, and magic logs.

This Runescape fletching guide will not only show you how to get 99 fletching fast, but it will also explain various ways to make money training to 99 fletching. Our goal is to not only help you get the 99 fletching skill cape, but to also learn how to make Runescape money fletching to level 99.

Following this guide to 99 fletching will teach you how to get 99 fletching in less than a month. Although these techniques will show you how to get 99 fletching fast, you must first be dedicated and willing to spend the time training fletching in order to actually reach 99 fletching. This Runescape fletching guide will only show you how to train fletching effectively and not physically train you to 99 fletching.

With that said, lets jump into how to train the first couple of fletching levels.

Runescape Fletching Guide for Levels 1-10 Fletching

arrow shafts

When you are first starting out with level 1 fletching, it is best to grab any woodcutting axe and a knife, then head to west Varrock. Once you get to the west side of Varrock, you will find many regular trees. This is a great spot to simply cut wood and fletch the wood into arrow shafts. Arrow shafts only get you 5 experience for every log you catch, but fletching an entire load of logs goes fast and you gain some fast fletching experience.

Once you get to level 5, you will be able to make shortbows. I would recommend to keep making arrow shafts, as arrow shafts are stackable in your inventory and you will be more likely to sell arrow shafts better than you would be able to sell many regular shortbow (u). It’s best to simply train all the way to level 10 fletching by fletching regular logs into arrow shafts.

Now that you know how to get to level 10 fletching, you should now continue onto the Page 2 to learn the Runescape Fletching Tips and how to get from level 10 fletching to level 40 fletching. On Page 3 we will explain how to train from level 40 fletching to level 99 fletching using Willow Longbow (u). On Page 4 we will explain how to get from 70 fletching to level 99 fletching by fletching Yew Longbows. On Page 5 we will explain how to get from level 85 fletching to level 99 fletching by fletching Magic Longbows. Finally, on Page 6 we will explain How to Make Runescape Money Fletching to 99 Fletching, with explanations on how to make Runescape money fletching Yew longbows and how to make Runescape money fletching Magic longbows.

Runescape Fletching Tips

If you are not familiar with the fletching skill, there are two tips every Runescape player should learn before jumping into the skill. Here are the two tips basic tips everyone should remember from this Runescape fletching guide, since they will help you get to 99 fletching fast and help you get better fletching experience.

1.) Always Make Longbows

When you are working through the fletching levels, you will be able to make short bows a few levels before you are able to make longbows out of the same wood. My advice is to always make longbows with whatever wood you have and wait until you are able to make the next higher grade of longbows before switching. For example, if you can make willow longbows and you then reach level 50, where you are able to make maple short bows, you are better off fletching willow longbows until you can make maple longbows.

The reason for this is because you get less experience for making short bows, so you are better off spending less money on cheaper logs to get more experience making longbows until you can make longbows. This will prevent you from wasting money and you are able to gain more experience for the money you spend.

2.) Never String Bows Except Yew longbows and Magic Longbows

bow string

Working your way to 99 fletching really only takes time and money. If you can save yourself some time and money, you will be able to get 99 fletching fast, which is why you should never sting any bows you fletch, unless they are yew longbow (u) or magic longbow (u). If you decide to string bows other than yew longbow (u) and magic longbow (u), then you are really wasting money since many people do not need to buy 20k willow longbows or 13k maple longbows.

Yew longbows and magic longbows are really the only two bows you can string and still be able to sell, since Runescape players can high alch yew longbows and high alch magic longbows to make quick Runescape money while training to 99 magic, which is explained in the 99 Magic Guide.

Now that you know the two tips to how to get 99 fletching fast and not waste money making shortbows, you can now continue on through this Rs fletching guide to learn how to train from level 10 fletching all the way to level 99 fletching.

Rs Fletching Guide for Levels 10-40 Fletching

Once you reach level 10, it’s time to begin fletching Longbow (u). Remember, do not string your Longbow (u) and make them into Longbows, because it will definitely be a waste of money to use bowstrings on these bows. Each Longbow (u) you fletch will get you 10 fletching experience. Stay at the same spot in west Varrock and continue to make regular Longbow (u) until you are level 25 and you are able to make Oak Longbow (u).

Oak Longbow (u)

When you reach level 25, begin making Oak Longbow (u). A good place to cut Oak logs in order to fletch them into Oak longbows is a little south of the spot where you obtained regular logs for the previous levels, just west of Varrock. Keep making Oak Longbow (u) until you reach level 40 fletching and you can make Willow Longbow (u). Each Oak Longbow (u) you fletch will give you 25 fletching experience.

Once you can make Willow Longbow (u), you journey to 99 fletching really begins. In the next three pages of this Rs fletching guide, we will explain three different ways to get to 99 fletching.

Runescape Fletching Guide on How to Fletch Willow Longbow (u) to Get 99 Fletching

willow longbow (u)

Willow logs are the most preferred logs to fletch, since they are generally cheap and can be fletched fast. Also, willow logs are usually cut when training to 99 woodcutting, as explained in the 99 Woodcutting Guide, since they can be cut for very fast woodcutting experience.

Since you are not adding bow strings onto the fletched Willow Longbow (u), you will only get half the fletching experience for fletching the entire bow. You would get 83 fletching experience for fletching a complete Willow Longbow, so fletching Willow logs into Willow Longbow (u) will give you 41.5 fletching experience for ever unstrung Willow Longbow you fletch.

To get from level 40 fletching to level 99 fletching, you have to fletch roughly 313,186 Willow Longbow (u). Obviously, this may cost a little bit of money. One way to get around spending all this money is to simply cut all the willow logs you will need, or even some of them, in order to reduce amount of money you will have to spend on getting 99 fletching by fletching Willow Longbow (u).

In the next section, we will explain the best places to find many Willow trees, in order to cut Willow logs to use for 99 Fletching and save money.

Cutting Willow Logs to Use for 99 Fletching

willow log

Cutting Willow logs to use to train for 99 fletching will greatly reduce the amount of money you will have to invest to get 99 fletching; however, you will have to spend a great amount of time cutting the Willow logs and running them to the bank, in order to deposit them. To save time, the best place to cut Willow logs is directly behind the Seers Village bank, where a line of Willow trees are locates the closest to a bank. Having the bank this close will allow you to cut and bank the willow logs much faster.

Another great place to cut Willow logs to use for 99 fletching is right by the Barbarian Outpost, outside the Barbarian Assault minigame. Here you will find many Willow trees to cut for Willow logs, located all along the waterfront and the outside of the Barbarian Assault minigame. If you decide to cut Willow logs here, there is a deposit box located right inside the Barbarian Assault minigame building, which is the closest place to deposit the logs.

willow tree

Since you would need to cut over 313,000 Willow logs just to get to 99 fletching, you may simply consider going for 99 cutting first, in order to later use all the logs to get 99 fletching. Check out the 99 Woodcutting Guide for more details on how to get 99 Woodcutting fast by cutting Willow logs.

Now that you know how to get 99 fletching by fletching Willow Longbow (u) and save money by cutting Willow logs in certain areas around Runescape to use for fletching, you should continue onto Page 4 where we will explain how to get from 70 fletching to level 99 fletching by fletching Yew Longbows. Then, on Page 5 we will explain how to get from level 85 fletching to level 99 fletching by fletching Magic Longbows. Finally, on Page 6 we will explain How to Make Runescape Money Fletching to 99 Fletching, with explanations on how to make Runescape money fletching Yew longbows and how to make Runescape money fletching Magic longbows.

Runescape Fletching Guide on How to Fletch Yew Longbows to Get 99 Fletching

Yew longbow

Before being able to fletch Yew Longbows at level 70 fletching, I would recommend fletching Willow Longbow (u) from level 40 to level 70 fletching. Once you do reach level 70 fletching, I would recommend switching to fletch Yew Longbows to either 85 fletching, where you can begin making Magic Longbows as explained in the next page of this Runescape fletching guide, or all the way to 99 fletching. The reason I would recommend fletching Yew Longbows is because there is a ton of money you can earn by fletching Yew logs into Yew longbows. More information about how to make Runescape money fletching Yew Longbows will be provided in the last section on this page, titled How to Make Runescape Money Fletching Yew Longbows.

Since Yew Longbows are very easy to sell, it is best to fletch all your Yew logs into Yew Longbow (u) and then complete them with a bow string, in order to fletch the Yew Longbow (u) into Yew Longbows. Every time you make a complete Yew Longbow, you will get 150 fletching experience. In order to get from 70 fletching to 99 fletching by fletching Yew Longbows, you will need to fletch around 81,979 Yew Longbows. Obviously buying almost 82,000 Yew logs will be very, very expensive.

One way to eliminate some of the cost involved in getting from 70-99 fletching by fletching Yew Longbows is to cut your own Yew logs, which will be explained in the next section.

Cutting Yew Logs to Use for 99 Fletching

yew logs

Although cutting Yew logs to use for 99 fletching may take a long time, you will save millions of Runescape GP! You really need to ask yourself if time is worth more than money. If you would rather spend the time cutting your own Yew logs, you will not only save money by not having to purchase the Yew logs, you will actually make money. However, how to make Runescape money fletching Yew Longbows will all be explained in the next section. For now, I would like to explain the best place to cut Yew logs to use for 99 fletching.

There are two places I would highly recommend cutting Yew logs. The first place is a very common place to cut Yew logs, as it is located right next to the Great Exchange in Varrock. Just to the east of the Great Exchange, behind the Varrock Castle, there are three Yew trees which can be cut for Yew logs. Once you have a full load of logs, all you have to do is bank them into the Great Exchange. However, this spot for cutting Yew logs is usually crowded. If this spot is crowded or you would like a change of scenery, I would highly recommend checking out the second spot to cut Yew logs.

Yew tree

In my opinion, the second spot is the best spot to cut Yew logs, even though it is a little further away from a bank. The second spot to cut Yew logs to use for 99 fletching is located directly south of the Seers Village bank and directly west of the Catherby bank. This spot has roughly seven Yew trees bunched together, with many other Yew trees scattered around them. This spot generally never becomes full of people and I’ve always been able to find a world where nobody is cutting these Yew trees, giving you a better opportunity to get Yew logs faster.

Now that you know the two best places to cut Yew logs, you may decide to simply go for 99 woodcutting, then go for 99 fletching. This is actually how many people get both the woodcutting and fletching 99 skill capes. If you would like to find out more information on cutting Yew logs and training to 99 woodcutting, check out the 99 Woodcutting Guide.

On the next page, Page 5, we will explain how to get from level 85 fletching to level 99 fletching by fletching Magic Longbows. Finally, on Page 6 we will explain How to Make Runescape Money Fletching to 99 Fletching, with explanations on how to make Runescape money fletching Yew longbows and how to make Runescape money fletching Magic longbows.

Runescape Fletching Guide on How to Fletch Magic Longbows to Get 99 Fletching

Magic Longbow

Once you reach level 85 fletching, you may want to consider switching to fletching Magic Longbows to get 99 fletching. In order to get to 85 fletching, you can either choose to fletch Willow Longbow (u) or Yew Longbows; however, switching to fletching Magic longbows will allow you to earn faster experience. Since you earn faster experience, I would highly recommend fletching Magic longbows to get 99 fletching.

For every complete Magic longbow you fletch, you will receive 183 fletching experience. In order to get from level 85 fletching to level 99 fletching, you will need to fletch roughly 53,420 Magic longbows. Many people cannot buy over 53,000 Magic longbows, since it would cost over 50 million GP for all of them and not many people want to spend that much money.

In order to save some money and fletch Magic longbows to get 99 fletching, you may choose to cut the Magic logs to use for 99 fletching. The next section of this Runescape fletching guide will explain the best place to cut Magic logs to get 99 fletching.

Cutting Magic Logs to Use for 99 Fletching

The best place I’ve found to cut Magic logs, with a bank fairly close by, is directly behind the Duel Arena, which is located north of Al Kharid and just west of Lumbridge. Behind the Duel Arena is the Mage Training Arena. One Magic tree is located on each side of the Mage Training Arena.

Magic Trees

There are usually not many people here, but you will occasionally enter a world where there may be one or two people already cutting Magic logs. If you happen to enter one of these worlds, I would recommend hopping to an empty world, where you would be the only one cutting magic logs. This will allow you to cut the most Magic logs, as fast as possible. When you have a full load of Magic logs, all you have to do is run to the Duel Arena and bank them into the Duel Arena’s bank chests.

Now that you know how to get 99 fletching by fletching Magic Longbows and one of the best places to cut Magic logs to use for 99 fletching, you should now continue onto the final page, Page 6, in order to find out How to Make Runescape Money Fletching to 99 Fletching, with guides on how to make money fletching Yew longbows and how to make money fletching Magic longbows.

How to Make Runescape Money Fletching to 99 Fletching

While you go through the process of getting 99 fletching, there are several ways to cut costs and actually make Runescape money fletching to 99 fletching. This final page of this Runescape fletching guide to get 99 fletching should explain several ways how you can reduce the amount of money you spend and make millions of Runescape GP fletching Yew longbows and Magic longbows.

Note: These tips will only work if you decide to fletch Magic Longbows or Yew Longbows.

1.) Cut Your Own Yew Logs or Magic Logs

When you decide to go for 99 fletching, you should really consider going for 99 woodcutting first, then returning to get 99 fletching with all the logs you’ve cut from getting 99 woodcutting. If you decide to cut the Yew logs or Magic logs to get to 99 fletching, you will cut out almost 50% of the cost to get 99 fletching. Also, since you will be fletching Yew longbows and Magic longbows, you will be able to either sell the longbows or high alch the longbows, in order to turn all your hard work into profit!

  • For more information on getting 99 woodcutting to use the logs for 99 fletching, head over to the 99 Woodcutting Guide.

2.) Make your Own Bowstrings

Many people decide not to take this step, since it can be very time consuming; however, making your own bowstrings from flax will definitely cut costs. Also, collect the flax you would use to make the bowstring will eliminate all the costs involved in obtaining bowstrings, resulting in a higher profit if you sell or high alch the longbows. Obtaining flax and turning it into bowstrings will also help you work your way up to 99 crafting.

  • For more information on getting 99 crafting, while working your way up to 99 fletching, head over to the 99 Crafting Guide.

3.) High Alch Yew Longbows and Magic Longbows You’ve Fletched

After you’ve made all the Yew longbows and Magic longbows to get to 99 fletching, you may choose to go for 99 magic. Using the Yew longbows and Magic longbows as items to high alch will allow you to earn the money from getting 99 fletching, while also earning money from working on getting 99 magic. Although you may have to buy nature runes and fire runes, you will actually still profit from high alching Yew longbows and Magic Longbows. However, if you decide to make nature runes and fire runes while working on getting 99 runecrafting, you will make even more money!

  • For more information on making Runescape money from high alching Yew longbows and Magic longbows, check out the 99 Magic Guide.
