Uncle’s second mission has you once again riding out to perform chores that he himself has neglected. You’ll need some new horses for the Marston ranch, and the two of you will ride out to find them.

You’ll put your horsebreaking skills to the test here, just like the much earlier “Wild Horses, Tamed Passions” mission.

“A Continual Feast”

The joys of ranching life continue with the “A Continual Feast” mission. This time, you’ll find Uncle atop a hill near the ranch. He’s spotted a herd of horses nearby that may be worth breaking.

Uncle should have let John know about them earlier, but he once again let John down.

One has to wonder if the bottle permanently attached to his face may have had something to do with it.

Roping and Breaking on the Great Plains

Lasso Wild Horses In Red Dead Redemption

Follow Uncle to the nearby horses, then mount up and follow him out into the plains. After a few minutes of bickering between John and Uncle, you’ll reach the herd of wild horses.

Equip your lasso and use it to rope one of the nearby horses. Keep holding down the aim button as you dismount and move over to the new horse. Press “Y” or “Triangle” to climb aboard and start the breaking mini game.

You’ve broken horses before by this point, so this should be nothing new to you. Keep John centered on the wild horse as it tries to forcibly remove him from its back. The camera angle will shift wildly, so be ready to make multiple rapid corrections to keep John mounted.

Uncle is very little help in the breaking process, as you should expect by this point. He’ll yell out advice while you’re breaking the horse, but does little else to assist.

When the first horse rears up, you have successfully broken it. John chastises Uncle for his lack of participation, and you’ll need to hop back on your own horse to chase down another as soon as Uncle throws a lasso on your newly-broken steed.

One Down…

You’ll need to repeat the whole process two more times to finish the mission. Look for the horse icons on the mini map to find the herd again, and don’t forget you can zoom out by pressing down on the d-pad.

Lasso and break another, then wait for Uncle to appear and throw a rope around its neck before dismounting. Climb aboard your own horse one more time and chase down the herd again. Break one more horse and Uncle will take your new herd back to the ranch.

Get back on your own horse and follow him back to continue. Meet up with Uncle in the corral to complete the mission.

Back on the Marston Ranch, John will have to assist Uncle in his daily chores as he works to put the place back together. You’ll herd some cattle, rope some horses, and perform other chores to get the ranch up and running again.
