RPG Maker VX
RPG Maker VX is a software developed by Enterbrain. It allows users with no programming experience to make their own Role-Playing Games thanks to a user friendly interface. The software also supports a “scripting” system which allows more experienced users to go beyond any limited set in RPG Maker VX. The software can be purchased online by visiting Enterbrain’s website for 59.99$.
The only downfall to this great software is the lack of information actually available with the software itself. All of the information is covered generally which makes it a bit difficult to use to some new users who would rather have step by step, well detailed instructions.
The purpose of this series of article is to provide some tutorials and resources for new users who are still finding their feet. Readers are encouraged to leave feedback, comments, requests and questions in the “comment” section at the bottom of this page.
RPG Maker VX: Custom Tilesets
Another “limitation” to RPG Maker VX is its rather limited default art. Although it might seem like plenty at first, it doesn’t take long to get accustomed to the default graphics and yearn for some new, unique tile sets to create original looking maps.
In this article, a new Japanese blog will be showcased ( 心のまにまに_)_ with its content. In accordance with the author’s wishes, **none of the files are available in the article directly**. A sample of what is available (with a watermark) will be displayed here and a link to the original source is provided **for easy download**.
Here’s a sample of what can be found on the actual blog…

As soon as you get on the blog, scroll down to find the table of content. The blog is subdivided is various categories where the actual art can be found.
A. This is where the actual tilesets can be found. Most of those are recolors unfortunately but there are a few original creations which are definitely worth a look. This is where you’ll find the couches and the arcade machine you can see in the sample gallery above.
B. You’ll find new doors and pedestals in that section. Most of them are recolors.
C. This is where new foes can be downloaded (battlers).
D. A few new characters including a cat mutant (mix of man and cat).
E. Contains several icons. Some of them are very well done.
