Starcraft 2 Infestor Strategy, Tips and Tricks

Starcraft 2 Infestor

Strong Against:

Vulnerable To:

Zerg vs Zerg

The Infestor is perhaps the most fascinating and varied unit in the entire Zerg arsenal, and can have a dramatic effect on the direction of any multiplayer match. Deploy them in a ground support role, and cast Neural Parasite against major enemy units then let them loose on their own troops. Infested Terrans spat out from burrows can be highly effective against Zerg building units, and stop Zerglings in their tracks with Fungal Growth. Infestors are vulnerable to the long range attacks of Hydralisks and Roaches though, so give them cover.

Zerg vs Terran

Infestors can play havoc with Terran forces, especially if you research the Pathogen Glands Upgrade to provide them with an ample stock of Energy. As before, deploy Neural Parasite to deal with major enemy units and encase Marines in Fungal Growth. Two good Terran counters for the Infestor are the Raven, thanks to its Detector Ability and Seeker Missile, and the always useful EMP round of the Ghost.

Zerg vs Protoss

Protoss Immortals are great candidates for a Neural Parasite attack, while casting Frenzy can enable your weaker troops to overpower Zealot squads rapidly. Prey on Probes and Protoss buildings with surprise Infested Terran attacks from the safety of your burrow, but avoid High Templars like the plague, as their Feedback Ability is catastrophic for an Infestor, and avoid giving away your position to nearby Stalkers as their Blink Ability is unaffected by Fungal Growth.

Conclusion

The Starcraft 2 Infestor is a unit that is a joy to use, even under the constant time pressure of a real time strategy multiplayer match. Every game you seem to discover some new and memorable way to turn the tide of the game with these fascinating units. The Infestor, as for all of the Zerg race, requires great skill to use on Battle.net, but provides deep satisfaction when it turns your opponent’s plans to dust online.
