Basics

Shang Tsung is not a character who should be played at close range if you can work at medium or long, he’s set of attacks works better in the longer ranges and he’ll last longer if you fight at that range. He does have a nice array of inside fighting attacks, but they really can’t match the most of the other characters if they’re played properly. If you do find yourself at close range, use Deadly Wish, or use Dragon Tail as a good trip move to give you time to get some distance between you and your opponent. He’s best when you keep things varied, so make sure you occasionally throw in a Body Switch occasionally before attacking. For those that are familiar with the old Sega version of Shang Tsung, he should be pretty easy to play. But for those that are more familiar with those “Tanks” that can just blast in and take a beating - this is not the toon you should choose.
