Surviving as a Vampire

Having seen what is available to you as a vampire both in terms of Attributes and abilities, and having looked at the disadvantages of playing this class, you can find details on how to survive and were to hang out, exactly.

Although most vampires reside in Dwemer ruins, the best place to rest and generally live as a vampire (keep in mind the hours which you can roam about), is the Dren Plantation, which is situated in the Ascadian Isles region of Vvardenfell. This plantation is owned by Orvas Dren who runs many illegal operations in the farm, such as smuggling the moon-sugar narcotic. The Dren plantation provides vampire clans with cattle, or simply slaves used by the vampire in order to feed and restore themselves. This is simply achieved by using the Vampire Touch spell on them. You can also collect herbs in order to restore lost health from the farm, particularly in the hours in which there are no slaves or guards protecting the farm.

If you have a high Personality and Speechcraft, survival will also be easier. As many people will simply not want to speak to you, or will have an unfavourable reaction to vampires, rather understandably, you can use these two attributes to make your life easier. With Speechcraft you can influence creatures to like you and a strong Personality will also work in your favour.

Other useful skills are Enchant and the Armorer skills. Since you won’t really have access to merchants or blacksmiths, apart from possibly services from the mage guild or Telvannis, the Enchant skill comes in useful if you wish to create your own magic items. Enchanters aren’t easily available when you character is on the road, and it therefore becomes a useful skill. The Armorer skill is essential since your vampire character won’t have any access at all to blacksmiths. Since you will most likely use weapons when fighting, not only spells, you will want to repair these. You can do this with this skill.

You can choose a different way of living as a vampire, which is rather more exciting than feeding on cattle or gathering herbs from farms. You can choose to live in Tombs or Dwemer ruins for instance, although bare in mind that these aren’t solely populated by vampires but also by hostile beings.
