The Bosmer

Bosmer are the wood-elves who reside in Tamriel, originally hailing from Valenwood. The latter is in the south-western coast of Tamriel and is known for its sub-tropical climate, surrounded by flowing blue rivers, vast woodland and rainforest, and similar promontory. Due to their natural surroundings, Bosmer are known as ‘The tree-sap people’, and favour a traditional elven existence based on romantic values, such as being one with natural settings, animals and plant life.

Bosmeri are nimble and quick, typically highly-energetic and especially apt at being rangers, spies or scouts. They are not particularly good fighters, since their race has never declared war on others, although they often have political discussions; they will however not hesitate to defend their land, woods or animal life since they respect all natural balance.

This race is usually solitary, and although mainly peaceful, they have never been allied in war with any of the others in Tamriel. This is also due to their cannibalistic practices, which forms part of their religion in accord with their Green Pact. This makes these elves more at home in their own surroundings but not equally suited to city life or a civilized setting.

Attributes, Skill and Abilities

Bosmeri attributes are Agility and Speed mainly with Personality and Intelligence also being high. They are not a very strong or enduring race, being built with a rather frail constitution.

The best skill, being a race based on wood-elves, is their archery skill, or Marksmanship. This has a very high +15 bonus, and as a result they are make the best archer character in the game. Other high skills are Sneak and Light Armor skills, both offering +10 bonuses.

Special Abilities: Beast Tongue, where you are able to command a creature (5 points for 600 seconds). Resist Common Disease 75%.

Playing the Bosmer

The archer, ranger or scout are probably good classes to play, since they have high stealth values and incredible archery bonuses. They also make speedy thieves, with a high sneak bonus and can sometime be diplomats, represented in their Personality base-scores.

One of the downsides to playing this character, is the low-strength and hence inability to carry lots of inventory items, but this can perhaps be overcome with enhancements or by wearing items which offer bonuses.
