Diseases in Morrowind

Introduction

In the first part of this guide, we covered the types of common diseases and how they can be cured. This next part deals with the more complex types, or blight and corprus diseases which are harder to resist and cure.

Blight Diseases

These types of disease are harder to cure than common disease, usually with a Cure Blight Disease potion or the aid of a cleric. In any of the mountainous regions, such as Molag Amur or Red Mountain, blight is common. No race has a natural resistance to blight, and using buffs or blesses such as Resist Blight Disease is highly recommended before venturing to any of the above areas.

Ash Woe Blight – A type of disease affecting the victim’s will and mind. It can be transmitted by corprus beasts or other similar creatures who have the disease. Affects Intelligence and Willpower.

Ash-chancre – It affects the characters behaviour and is transmitted by corprus beasts, or other creatures residing in Red Mountain, such as blighted Cliff Racer. It drains your Personality attribute.

Black-Heart Blight – This affects your Strength and Endurance. It can be contracted from Blighted Alits or rats.

Chantrax Blight – This disease affects your Dexterity and Mobility attributes. It can be contracted from Ascended Sleepers, Blighted Kagoutis or other similar Red Mountain creatures.

Corprus Disease

This is the most complex and worst type of disease which you can contract in-game. It is also known as ‘The Divine Disease’ and as you start the game and main quest, you will be informed to be careful about contracting this, since there is no known cure. There characters in the game who are researching cures; however I won’t spoil these quests for you, as they can be quite rewarding especially when playing for the Tribunal Temple.

Luckily, there are only a few ways to actually be infected with Corprus: either late on in the main quest or playing as a member of the Tribunal Temple faction. At least one of the two is avoidable, and by the time you venture into Dagoth Ur territory, which is actually were the disease originates, you have probably found out about possible disease immunity or other ways around it.

Corprus Disease – Affects your Intelligence, Willpower, Personality and Speed Attributes, actually lowering them by 1 point. However, you are able to gain 100% immunity to all other diseases.

This concludes the two-part article on all the disease in game.
