Helping Christina Morales

This is an unmarked NCR quest that you can pick up inside Camp McCarren. If you go into the main Concourse of the airport (second floor, back of the terminal that you can enter from the main camp), then you can find a crying woman sitting in the chairs along the main path.

Christina Morales wants the NCR to retrieve her husband’s body, but the Fiends are waiting to ambush whoever comes to get it and they can only spare two men to keep an eye on the situation. You can volunteer to help either out of the goodness of your heart or for her small reward of about 50 caps.

The body will receive it’s own map marker and spawn in the world, along with a scripted ambush, right next to the Repconn HQ. Walk down from the north and look for the two soldiers watching the area by the train tracks. You should probably talk to them to make sure that the quest doesn’t bug out. I had no problems just fast traveling to REPConn HQ and grabbing the body, but it’s a good idea to make sure that the scripts fire right, especially for an unmarked quest with something as tricky as detecting an object that you’re “carrying.”

Getting Ranger Morales’ Body

There are several Fiends on the rooftops around the body. Approach carefully with a rifle and open fire. See if you can pick them off as you approach. Note that if you have Boone with you he’ll probably drop all of them before you can even get your sights lined up. Then again, Boone is practically an “easy button” so that’s no surprise. Note that melee isn’t really an option. Melee and unarmed characters should probably close the distance and engage them with a 9mm pistol. Walk carefully once you reach the area around the body. There are a few bear traps, shotgun traps and potentially mines (I don’t remember seeing many, but i may have just set them off without realizing it during the fight).

Once the snipers are dead and you can find a clear path to the body, walk up and use the “Z” key to grab him. Pick up Ranger Morales’ Body and drag him back to the two NCR troopers by the sandbags. Try to keep him off of the ground, since dragging him will probably slow you down more than just carrying him. Once you get close, one of the NCR troopers at the sandbags should tell you that you’ve made it far enough and that you can just drop him off with them. This will officially complete the unmarked quest. You can go back to the Concourse to give Christina Morales the good news.
