Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Perks
Among the many options for customizing your loadout in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the ability to choose between various "perks" that grant specific advantages during gameplay. These perks run the gamut from simply increasing the reload speed of your weapons to allowing you to (temporarily) cheat death.
Each perk has its advantages and disadvantages. All perks also have two levels, normal and pro. Pro is typically unlocked after a certain condition involving the normal version is completed. The pro version of a perk merely enhances the original, it does not replace it. Players rocking the pro version of Marathon, for example, get both unlimited sprint and the ability to climb obstacles more quickly.

Modern Warfare 2 Perks: Slot 1
The perks available for slot one are mostly utilitarian in nature. They allow you to sprint for longer distances, aim more quickly, and resupply while still on the battlefield.
The first, Marathon, allows you to sprint for as long as you want, even from one side of a map to the other. The updated version, Marathon Pro, is unlocked after you run a total of 26 miles with Marathon and allows you to climb obstacles more quickly. Marathon is unlocked at level 4.
Also unlocked at level 4 is the Sleight of Hand perk. With it equipped, players can reload their weapons at an increased speed. Sleight of Hand Pro is unlocked after scoring 120 kills using Sleight of Hand and allows you to transition from hip fire to aimed fire more quickly.
Scavenger, the perk that allows you to pick up ammo from dead bodies, is unlocked at level 13. After you’ve scavenged from a total of 100 bodies, Scavenger Pro is unlocked, allowing you to start with additional ammo.
The Bling perk is unlocked at level 21. Using Bling, players can use two attachments on their primary weapon. After 200 kills using Bling, Bling Pro is unlocked, allowing you to use two attachments on your secondary weapon, as well.
The final slot 1 perk, One Man Army, is unlocked at level 21. Using this perk, players can switch between classes at any time, but the process has a five-second delay. After 120 kills using One Man Army, One Man Army Pro is unlocked, which removes the five-second delay when switching.
Page two has all the perks for slots two and three, including Stopping Power, Lightweight, Commando, and Last Stand.
Perks in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Slot 2
The slot two perks have a more offensive focus than those available in slot 1.
The first, Stopping Power, increases bullet damage by approximately 30% while the upgraded version, Stopping Power Pro also increases your damage against enemy vehicles. Unlock Stopping Power Pro after scoring 250 kills using Stopping Power. This perk is initially unlocked at level 4.
Lightweight is unlocked at level 4 and allows players to move more quickly across the battlefield. After sprinting for a total of 30 miles using Lightweight, Lightweight Pro is unlocked. The upgraded version of this perk allows players to aim more quickly following a sprint.
At level 9, Hardline is unlocked. This perk reduces the number of kills necessary to activate a killstreak by one. Hardline Pro is unlocked after a total of 40 killstreaks are earned using Hardline and also reduces the number of necessary deaths to achieve deathstreaks by one.
Cold Blooded renders the player undetectable by UAV, air support, sentry guns, and thermal scopes and is unlocked at level 25. Cold Blooded Pro removes the name and colored crosshair when an enemy targets you and is unlocked after destroying a total of 40 enemy killstreak rewards.
The final slot two perk, Danger Close, is unlocked at level 33 and increases damage with all explosive weapons. After earning 100 kills with explosives while Danger Close is active, Danger Close Pro is unlocked, increasing the damage of air support units as well.
Perks in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Slot 3
The slot three perks have a myriad of uses, from jamming enemy radar to giving the player a chance to cheat death, at least temporarily.
Commando is unlocked at level 4 and significantly increases the damage at which the player can kill an enemy with a melee attack. The upgraded version, Commando Pro, is unlocked after scoring 20 melee kills using Commando and allows the player to fall without taking damage.
Steady Aim is also unlocked at level 4. It increases hip-fire (shooting without aiming down the sight) accuracy with all weapons. The upgraded version, Steady Aim Pro, is unlocked after earning a total of 80 hip-fire kills using Steady Aim. Steady Aim Pro allows the player to hold their breath longer when using a sniper rifle.
The third slot three perk, Scrambler, is unlocked at level 17 and automatically jams the radar of enemies near your position, rendering you undetectable. After scoring 50 close-range kills using Scrambler, Scrambler Pro is unlocked, allowing you to delay the explosion of enemy claymores, hopefully giving you a chance to escape the blast.
At level 29, the Ninja perk is unlocked. Using this perk, players are invisible to enemy heartbeat sensors. The upgraded version, Ninja Pro, is unlocked after scoring 50 close-range kills with Ninja. Ninja Pro silences your footsteps in addition to your heartbeat.
SitRep is unlocked at level 37. SitRep allows you to see enemy explosive devices and Tactical Insertion flares much more easily. After you’ve used SitRep to destroy 120 enemy devices, SitRep Pro is unlocked, increasing the volume of
At level 41, one of the most useful (or annoying, depending of which side of it you are on) perks, Last Stand is unlocked. Fans of the original Modern Warfare remember that this perk allows you to survive an additional ten seconds after being downed by an enemy. During your Last Stand, you have use of your sidearm and can attack any nearby enemies. New to Modern Warfare 2 is the ability to crawl while in Last Stand. After scoring 20 kills while in Last Stand, Last Stand Pro is unlocked, allowing you the use of your equipment (claymores, grenades, throwing knives, etc…) after being downed.
Thanks to the various useful perks, weapons, and equipment loadouts available in Modern Warfare 2, players can create a class to suit their own personal playing style. Don’t be afraid to check out the various perks to find the combination that works best for you.
