This article will describe the rest of the arcane side of the talent tree. From Improved Counterspell to Slow, these will increase your damage, your armor, and your total intellect. For all about mages see: The Wonderful World of Mages by mdweems.

Improved Counterspell – This has an opening for two points of talent and it requires 15 talent points already to be placed in the arcane side of the tree. It will give your counterspell a chance to silence for four seconds your target. Talent point one will give a 50% chance and talent point two will give 100%.

Arcane Mediation – You can put three talent points in this if you have 15 talent points used elsewhere. It will allow for part of your mana regeneration to continue even while you are casting. Talent point one is for 10%, talent point two is for 20%, and talent point three is for 30%.

Improved Blink – This has two spots for talent points and it requires there be 20 talent points already used somewhere else. It will reduce the chance that you will be hit by spells or abilities after using blink. Talent point one will last for 2 seconds after a Blink, and talent point two is for 4 seconds after a blink.

Presence of Mind – Only one talent point, but it has the requirement that 20 talent points be placed elsewhere first. It is an instant spell that costs no mana and has a three minute cooldown. It will give your next under 10 second casting time Mage spell the ability to be an instant cast spell.

Arcane Mind – You can put up to five talent points here if you have 20 talent points elsewhere already. It will increase your total intellect. Talent point one increases 3%, talent point two 6%, talent point three 9%, talent point four 12%, and talent point five 15%.

Prismatic Cloak – This can take two talent points and requires 25 talent points elsewhere. It will reduce your damage taken. Talent point one reduces by 2%, talent point two by 4%.

Arcane Instability – This will hold three talent points if you have one in Presence of Mind and 25 elsewhere. It will increase your spell damage and critical strike chance by a percentage. Talent point one is 1%, talent point two is 2%, and talent point three is 3%.

Arcane Potency – This can take up to three talent points and it requires 25 points in the talent tree already and 5 in Arcane Concentration. It will increase the chance for a critical strike of any of the spells while clearcasting. Talent point one is for 10%, talent point two is for 20%, and talent point three is for 30%.

Empowered Arcane Missiles – This can hold three talent points and requires 30 to be placed elsewhere first. Arcane Missile spells will gain a percentage of your bonus spell damage effects but it will also increase mana cost. Talent point one is 15%/2%, talent point two is 30%/4%, and talent point three is 45%/6%.

Arcane Power – This has only one talent point and it takes 3 talent points in arcane instability and 30 in other arcane talents. It is an instant spell that cost no mana and has a three minute cooldown. Your spells will deal 30% more damage but cost 30% more mana. This will last 15 seconds.

Spell Power – You can put two talent points in this and it requires 30 talent points elsewhere. It will increase your critical strike damage bonus of all of your spells by 25% for talent point one and 50% for talent point two.

Mind Mastery – This has a top off of five talent points and it requires 35 talent points elsewhere. It increases your spell damage by up to a percent of your total intellect. Talent point one is 5%, talent point two is 10%, talent point three is 15%, talent point four is 20%, and talent point five is 25%.

Slow – This has only one talent point and you must have 40 arcane talents elsewhere. It is an instant cast no cooldown spell that costs 20% of your base mana. It will affect one target at a time and it will reduce the target’s movement speed by half and increase the time between their ranged attacks by half. It will also increase casting time by half and will last 15 seconds.

That’s all of the arcane talents, the rest in this series will show you the fire and the frost talents that you can use to stun and disarm your foe.
