Page content

Mages have a splendid talent tree of fire, frost and arcane magic. This will describe the arcane talent side of the talent tree. For all about mages see: The Wonderful World of Mages by mdweems.

Arcane Subtlety – You can put up to two talent points in this particular talent and there are no requirements. The first talent point gives you a reduction in target’s resistance to your spells by 5% and your spells will cause 20% less threat, and the second talent point gives you a reduction in target’s resistance to your spells by 10% and your spells will cause 40% less threat

Arcane Focus – You can put up to five talent points in Arcane Focus and there are no requirements. The first talent point will reduce the chance that your foe will resist your arcane spells by 2%, the second talent point by 4%, the third talent point by 6%, the fourth talent point by 8%, and the fifth talent point by 10%.

Improved Arcane Missiles – This talent can take five talent points and there are no requirements. It will give you a chance to avoid damage caused interruptions while you are channeling arcane missiles. The first talent point gives 20%, the second 40%, the third 60%, the fourth 80%, and the fifth 100%.

Wand Specialization – You can put two talent points here and it requires five talent points to be anywhere in the arcane tree. It will increase your damage dealt from wands by 13% for the first talent point and 25% for the second.

Magic Absorption – You are able to put five talent points in this and you are required to have five points elsewhere in the tree. This will increase your resistance and cause your spells you resist to restore a portion of your max mana. Talent point one by 2%/1%, Talent point two by 4%/2%, Talent point three by 6%/3%, Talent point four by 8%/4%, and Talent point five by 10%/5%.

Arcane Concentration – You are able to put five talent points here if you have five talent points elsewhere on the tree. This will give you a chance to “clearcast” after damage spells hit a target. Talent point one will give you a 2% chance, talent point two a 4% chance, talent point three a 6% chance, talent point four a 8% chance, and talent point five a 10% chance.

Magic Attunement – This has two talent point spots and it requires that 10 talent points be placed elsewhere first. This is the talent that will increase the Amplify Magic and Dampen Magic effect by 25% for talent point one and 50% by talent point two.

Arcane Impact – This talent has three slots for talent points and it will require 10 talent points elsewhere. It will increase the chance for a critical strike of Arcane Blast and Arcane Explosion by a percentage. Talent point one by 2%, talent point two by 4%, and talent point three by 6%.

Arcane Fortitude – This only takes one talent point and requires those 10 other talent points in the tree before you can get it. The one talent point will increase the armor you wear by the total of 100% of your intellect.

Improved Mana Shield – This has the opening for two talent points and it requires 15 talent points elsewhere on the tree. It will decrease the amount of mana that is lost per point of taken damage while your mana shield is active. Talent point one decreases 10% and talent point two decreases 20%.

Part two of this set will explore the rest of the arcane talents on the Mage Talent Tree.
