How To Unlock TNA Impact Game Characters for PS2

Page content

Okay, so as I stated in my review of TNA Impact_,_ this isn’t the best PS2 wrestling game on the market right now. That said, those who have been unfortunate enough to have bought this rather shallow title are probably desperately looking for a way to get a little more value out of their purchase. We here at Bright Hub totally understand that, so in the spirit of offering those poor souls a helping hand, here is a how-to guide for unlocking some of the secret characters available in the PlayStation 2 version of TNA Impact: The Video Game.

Abyss – In order to unlock “The Monster” Abyss, you need to defeat him in Story Mode. Then you can take control of him and unleash the fury of his mighty Black Hole Slam.

Brother Ray – While Brother Devon of Team 3D (aka the tag team formerly known as the Dudley Boys) is available from the very start, his partner, Brother Ray, needs to be unlocked. In order to do so, you’ll have to beat Team 3D in Story Mode.

Eric Young – The man known as “Showtime” Eric Young and the mild-mannered alter-ego of “Super Eric” can be unlocked once you win the TNA Tag Team titles in Story Mode.

Jay Lethal – A former TNA X-Division Champion known for his Randy “Macho Man” Savage impersonation, “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal becomes unlocked once you win the three-man gauntlet match in story mode.

Jeff Jarrett – One of the founders TNA wrestling and the self-proclaimed “King of the Mountain,” Jeff Jarrett becomes usable by players once they defeat him in story mode.

Kevin Nash – Once known as “Diesel” in the WWE and currently known as “Big Sexy,” Kevin Nash is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, and you can play as him, provided you can pin him or make him submit in a story mode match.

Senshi – While he is no longer with the company, Senshi was once a fairly successful competitor in the TNA X-Division. He becomes playable once you earn at least 200,000 style points.

Sonjay Dutt – Affectionately known as “The Guru,” Dutt is the arch enemy of Jay Lethal. Beat him in story mode and unlock “Black Machismo” as well, and you can recreate your rivalry in the TNA Impact video game.

Tomko – Tomko, who at one time held the TNA World Tag Team Titles along with A.J. Styles, can be unlocked if you defeat him and his former partner Styles in a tag match.

Please note, however, that this isn’t a complete list of the unlockable characters. For example, some no-name characters, created by the developers, can also be made playable by beating them in story mode. Also, alternate versions of both “The Phenomenal” A.J. Styles and Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machineguns are available in the game, as are announcer Don West and, of course, the main character of story mode, Suicide. Sadly, some of the hidden characters from the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions did not make the cut in the PlayStation 2 version, but there are still plenty of secret wrestlers to be had in the game, and while they won’t suddenly turn TNA Impact into a quality wrestling game, we do hope that unlocking them will ease the pain of purchasing it, if only slightly.
