Modern Warfare 2 Challenges for Weapons after Prestige

Modern Warfare 2 Challenges for Weapons after Prestige
Page content

Introduction

Prestige is one thing Call of Duty is known for. Once you progress through the ranks in multiplayer, unlocking everything as you go, you’re given the option: do you stay at the top and reign supreme, or do you give it all away to start over again? In Modern Warfare 2, you prestige after level 70. Once you hit 70, you must then gain enough experience to hit level 71, at which point you are given the option to prestige.

Prestige does many things. First, the negative: It resets almost everything. You get a new icon by your level, but your level resets to 1. All weapons are locked again, as are all perks and everything you have to play to unlock. You can’t even use custom classes. Only your titles and emblems are spared; no need to unlock them again. However, your challenges are completely reset.

You are given a new level icon every prestige, from 1 to 10. You cannot prestige again after the 10th prestige. Every second prestige (1, 3, 5, 7, and 9) you are given an additional custom class slot. On top of that, each prestige nets you a new title. They are as follows:

Prestige 1: The Prestige

Prestige 2: Round 2

Prestige 3: Third Time Charm

Prestige 4: 4 the Record

Prestige 5: Five Sided Fistagon

Prestige 6: 6 Feet Under

Prestige 7: Lucky 7

Prestige 8: Hard Eight

Prestige 9: 9 Lives

Prestige 10: Prestige 10

Once you prestige, an additional selection of challenges is open for you. Each weapon other than the Riot Shield has a pair of challenges, and an additional “Prestige” section of challenges opens up. Those are described in detail below.

Wondering why you’re playing the multiplayer game when you haven’t even finished the single player campaign? Wonder no longer, and use this walkthrough to get you where you need to be!

Prestige Challenges - Weapons

Once you hit level 70 in Modern Warfare 2 online play, you’re given the option to prestige. This resets your progress completely, leaving only your titles and emblems. It gives you a new class slot every second prestige, and a new level icon every prestige. You can do this up to ten times, though most people stop after their first.

Every weapon in the game has a pair of prestige challenges. These challenges are the Veteran and Master challenges. They are identical for nearly every weapon. The Riot Shield has no prestige challenges. The Stinger has only Veteran challenges. Aside from that, they are identical.

Every single one of these challenges, I, II, and III, gives you 10,000 EXP. In addition, if you are to prestige a second time, your progress towards these challenges is NOT reset. The exception is, if you have completed them, they do reset.

Veteran I: 500 kills with the weapon. (Helicopters shot down for the stinger.) Unlocks the plain silver title for the weapon.

Veteran II: 1,000 kills with the weapon. (Helicopters shot down for the stinger.) Unlocks the silver weapon emblem.

Veteran III: 2,500 kills with the weapon. (Helicopters shot down for the stinger.) Unlocks the silver prestige skulls title for the weapon.

Master I: 250 headshots with the weapon. (Multi-kills with the launchers.) Unlocks the plain silver title with headshot icon for the weapon.

Master II: 500 headshots with the weapon. (Multi-kills with the launchers.) Unlocks the gold weapon emblem.

Master III: 1,000 headshots with the weapon. (Multi-kills with the lauchers.) Unlocks the gold prestige skulls title for the weapon.

Prestige Section - Killstreak Challenges

The following challenges are for killstreaks. The strategy is easy; get the killstreaks and call them in. By now you should know how to use most of them, since you’ve gone through all 70 levels.

Hidden Challenges

These challenges are called “Hidden” because they don’t appear on any in-game list of challenges. Some of them are common through regular play, and you may not even know you got them when you got them. Others are rare things you’re unlikely to even think of to do. Some have titles, some have emblems, some have just EXP. Some are so rare we don’t even know what they give.

Reach this point in the game only to find that you STILL don’t really get some of the weapons? Check out this guide to Modern Warfare 2 Weapons!

6fears7 - Set your killstreak rewards to one that costs 7, one that costs 8, and one that costs 9, then earn them all. Worth 1,500 EXP and unlocks the 6fears7 title. This one is relatively easy to get in Ground War Domination, where people tend to storm points without caring about their lives.

Click Click Boom - Kill an enemy with a C4 pack while in Last Stand. Worth 3,000 EXP and unlocks the Click Click Boom title and the crazy pig emblem. With Last Stand Pro you can throw your equipment while in Last Stand. Someone kills you from close range, you can throw your C4 pack and detonate it quickly to earn this challenge.

Hard To Kill - Get 2 kills while in either Last or Final Stand. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the Hard to Kill title. This one isn’t too hard, if you’re throwing yourself kamikaze into the enemy. If you’re ambushed while camping, chances are you’ll only have one opponent around to kill.

Heroic - Capture a Domination point while in Last Stand. Worth 1,000 EXP. This one you obviously have to be playing domination or ground war domination to complete. You could try to kill yourself with a grenade to set yourself into Last Stand, or you could just capture points while running it and hope you die halfway through once.

Hijacker I, II, and III - Steal 10, 50, and 200 enemy crates (care package, sentry gun, and emergency airdrop.) Worth 1,000, 3,000, and 5,000 EXP respectively. Challenge I unlocks the Hijacker title, Challenge II unlocks the Bounty Hunter title, and challenge III unlocks the treasure chest emblem.

Infected - Be knifed by an enemy wearing the Infected title. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the Infected title. This challenge is really fun. The title itself is viral, in that you can only get it from someone who has it.

Missiles

Living Dead - Survive in Final Stand long enough to stand back up. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the Living Dead title and the Final Stand emblem.

Martyrdoh! - Kill an enemy who is cooking a grenade. Worth 1,000 EXP. Unlocks the No. Title.

Martyr - Kill a player with a Martyrdom grenade. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the Martyr title and the Martyrdom Emblem.

Never Forget - Get hurt by an enemy and, while still flashing red from their damage, stab them in the back. Worth 3,500 EXP.

Radiation Sickness - Get nuked by the enemy. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the Toxic title.

Sidekick - Get three kills with your secondary weapon in one life. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the Sidekick title and pistol emblem.

STD - Knife someone who has the STD title equipped in their callsign. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the STD title.

The Avenger - Avenge three teammates in one life. Unlocks the Avenger title and the Grigsby emblem.

Renaissance Man - Kill 3 enemies with 3 different weapons in one life. Unlocks the army task force emblem.

The Edge I, II, and III - Get 5, 10, and 20 game-winning killcams. Worth 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 EXP respectively. Challenge III unlocks the skull and crossbones pirate emblem.

The Loner - Get a 10 killstreak with no killstreaks equipped. Worth 2,500 EXP and unlocks the Behind Enemy Lines title and the Mario Price emblem. This challenge is one of the more sought-after hidden challenges. You cannot have any killstreaks equipped, meaning all checkboxes are cleared.

Completely Numb - With Painkiller active, take enough damage that would normally kill you, and survive. Worth 1,000 EXP and unlocks the Completely Numb title and the painkiller emblem.

So you’ve read through all five articles, you’ve completed every challenge, hit prestige 10, and done everything. Yet there are still a few holes. There are titles that don’t have challenges, and emblems too. What goes where? Well, read on, and find out. Straying from the usual format, this page will list the title or the emblem, and then how to get it.
