Puzzle games may not be the first genre that springs to mind when you think of the Nintendo Wii, but they do exist. While many of the game designers of this newest generation have seemed to forget about this great type of game, there are still some fun puzzle games out there that will make everyone happy, from experienced gamer to someone picking up a Wii Remote for the first time.
- Boom Blox: This game, which was partially developed by Steven Spielberg, is a relatively new puzzle game to the Wii. In Boom Blox, you have to use your Wii remote to knock over various structures made of blocks, or keep those structures from being knocked over. Its in-game physics ensure that you get a realistic feel to knocking over blocks. This game definitely takes advantage of the Wii’s unique playing style, and it is fun for all ages.
- Elebits: In this game, you are on the hunt for Elebits, small energy creatures that power this made-up world. You are in control of moving different objects in a house, and finding these Elebits — hunting them down by pointing your Wii remote at them and capturing them. It’s almost like you’re hunting with the Wii remote.
- Dr. Mario Online Rx: This Wii Ware game is a great value, and brings back the fun of old-school Dr. Mario on the NES system. Most people will remember this game from their childhood — and it is just as much fun as it was then. Capsules are lined up in different colors to get rid of viruses.
- Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords: One part Bejeweled-alike and one part role-playing game, Puzzle Quest will appeal to people who aren’t sure they want to spend all their time just randomly playing different puzzle stages. Here, you advance through the game depending on your puzzle skills — battling bad guys with puzzles.
These games are just a taste of the many different Wii puzzle games — a type of game often overlooked, but much loved by many.
