Space Colony is a comical cross between real time strategy and Sims style people management. You play through a series of missions on inhospitable alien planets setting up mining operations and despatching nasty aliens with the help of your colorfully dysfunctional crew.

Cossacks: European Wars was released back in 2001 and offered excellent real time strategy gaming with historical accuracy. The selling point at the time was the huge number of units you could have on each map. This was a great title with deep game-play and it paved the way for the Total War series.
