Starcraft 2 Zerg Queen Guide
Twisted cockroach creatures sitting in wait at the Zerg base, the Starcraft 2 Queen has seen some fundamental changes from its earlier incarnations. Bright Hub looks at these royal developments.
Starcraft 2 Queen - Introduction
The next part of Bright Hub's complete Starcraft 2 Zerg multiplayer guide focuses on the royalty of the Zerg, the Queen unit.
Compared to the original Starcraft and Brood War expansion, the Starcraft 2 Queen has been stripped back to basics. Gone are the Infestation Abilities, hived off into the Infestor unit for SC2, and, although toughened up from before, they are pretty much confined to barracks in a Zerg base. In this article, we'll take a look at how these changes have affected the Zerg Queen's stats and weaponry, her new Abilities and Upgrades, and how your strategies need to take these into account in SC2 multiplayer.

Starcraft 2 Queen Strategy, Tips and Tricks
Zerg vs Zerg
Queens are a vital part of your early-game base defense, providing basic air cover and speeding up production with the Spawn Larva Ability. The Transfusion Ability also means that they can keep a damaged base up and running even after a heavy attack. While good for warding off Overlords and Mutalisks, they are vulnerable to an early Zergling base rush, especially if some Roaches are accompanying.
Zerg vs Terran
The Queen comes into its own more against the non-Zerg races, where its Creep Tumor Ability makes them a vital part of your expansion plans. Embedding a Tumor can block off any enemy expansion options as well as upping your units mobility. Move your Queen into play if your Terran counterpart attempts to ramraid your base with Hellions, but be quick to burrow if an overwhelming Marine tide, or the heavier ground units like the Marauder are heading your way.
Zerg vs Protoss
Keep an Overseer close at all times to prevent sneak assassinations by Dark Templars. Queens in number make surprisingly good counters for Void Rays, but are prone to getting taken out of the fray by the Phoenix and its Graviton Beam.
The Starcraft 2 Queen is essentially a new unit compared to the earlier game and expansion, with a whole new set of tactics to employ. While she may feel very limited in comparison to before, the Queen is a powerful base defense unit, especially in numbers and backing each other up with Transfusions. Crank out several at the first opportunity to give your Zerg base some aerial cover.
