Starcraft 2 SCV Strategy, Tips and Tricks

Starcraft 2 SCV

Vulnerable To:

For the SCV, race by race tactics are not really necessary, as the same basic rules always apply. While their Fusion Cutter is no great shakes as a weapon, with some Marine support they can put a decent fight if your opponent decides to attempt an early game rush. Far more resilient than either the Protoss Probe or Zerg Drone, the SCV has a role to play on the battlefield - attach a couple to any of your major armored units to effect running repairs during the heat of battle, and their ability to repair themselves adds to their durability. They also make a decent scouting option due to a fair turn of speed. When base building, pump out as many of these useful workers as you can but remember the golden rule of never assigning more than three to any one refinery or the excess units will simply be going to waste - instead group them with your armor. When playing against Terran opposition, focus on the SCVs rather than the structures, as their repair abilities make smoking the buildings ultimately futile as they will soon have them up and running again.

Conclusion

No, they’re not exciting, but the Starcraft 2 SCV is both dependable and adaptable, and will serve any Terran player in Starcraft 2 multiplayer matches well, not only in the basics of unit and structure building, but also as armor support and even as unassuming scouts.
