Go Go Gourmet: Chef of the Year - A Hi-Speed Cooking Adventure Game by Oberon Media

I’ve always enjoyed games created by Oberon Media and once again they don’t disappoint.

The game is a great sequel to the original, Go-Go Gourmet.

Battle your way in the kitchen arena amidst betrayal, treachery and the steely eyes of the judges. You wil be judged according to the number of dishes you make and the time you take in preparing them.

Gather the ingredients and follow the necessary steps to prepare your dish - be it dicing, slicing or baking to get the job done. Think of it as being a player in the cooking games you see on television - minus the cash, and nasty kitchen spills.

As an added bonus, whenever you complete a kitchen you get actual recipes for the dishes you prepare. So you can actually use the recipes you see online.

Amusing and educational, what more can you ask for in a game? For other games that are downloadable, why don’t you check out the actual site that lets you view them? Reflexive has always provided quality gaming sources for pc players, and they haven’t disappointed so far.

Graphics and Sounds (4 out of 5)

For a 35MB downloadable game, the graphics seen in the game is pretty above par. Fantastic colors and set designs per level are amazing to behold, with the right amount of color blending, you can be sure that your eyes won’t tire (or get irritated) playing it for hours. Each level, featuring different venues highlight the primary colors per country. The graphics for the ktichen equipment are really good as well, containing almost the same images you would see on real life ingredients found in your kitchen. However, don’t expect the kitchen equipment to be of the same quality. After all, its still a game.

What’s great about the sounds in the game is that it apppropriates the player into the high speed mode of an action adventure games that could rival, Diner Dash and the like.

Then again, what with you setting your eye on the goal and creating as many dishes as possible, the sound isn’t the most important thing on the player’s mind.

Gameplay (4 out of 5)

Following the successful first installment of Go-Go Gourment, Oberon releases the sequel, Go-Go Gourmet: Chef of the Year, where as you guessed it, you’re competing against world class chefs around the world to become, the Chef of the Year.

As a neophyte in the cooking industry, your character will certainly emerge as the underdog here and must try to climb your way to the top, beating out all the other chefs. The storyboard is amusing, dealing with the wiles and strategies employed by each different chef to become the best. Each level provides you with an interesting story line about your rivals where you uncover frauds, cheats and two-faced chefs.

Just proves that even in the culinary world, its a jungle out there!
