inFamous Storyline (4 out of 5)

The storyline in inFamous is not that epic nor it is below average. It is simply average but there are some good points about the story line that save it. This is the story of the main character Cole, whom after an explosion that happens in the “Empire City”, he discovered that he has superpowers in the form of lightning. From then on, you will be playing as Cole in inFamous. You are free to do anything you wish. Whether you wanted to be a villain or a superhero (or both), you are allowed to be that here. Of course, each of them will have different outcomes and different endings in the end of the game and each path will affect the different achievements that you will be able to gather up as you go along in inFamous. And, depending on which path you take - good or evil - you will have different quests, meet different characters, and have a completely different game experience than if you had chosen the other path. To me, this makes inFamous a pretty good story, as you can choose which path you want to take, not just the one that the game sets for you.

Graphics and Sound (5 out of 5)

inFamous, being one of the few exclusive PS3 games, boasts one of the best gaming graphics I have ever seen; only comparable to some games also in PS3 such as Metal Gear Solid 4. There are no lags, and everything just streams wonderfully. The setting of this game shows the city in ruins, but the designers just did a really wonderful job on depicting this game as being in a time when the complete city had been destroyed. It has good, real-sounding sound effects when you doing something, such as jump, shoot lightning, fire a weapon, and more. And, the main character has some odd, yet funny sayings that he’s constantly popping out at odd times. It also has a great graphical effect when you attack your enemies, and when you couple this with the sounds - well, it just makes this part of the game excellent as you can see from the screenshots below.

Gameplay (5 out of 5)

The gameplay in inFamous is excellent. This game takes a sandbox–an open ended game in any new level. Basically, you will play in a third person perspective, while walking around parts of the ruined city, and you are allowed to go anywhere. Of course, on the way, you will be fighting some enemies that will be no problem for your lightning power. Continuing missions and exploring specific parts of the game will net you more exploration–at the end of the game. And, you will have a total of three islands to explore, all the while you can do anything you want to do.

Think of this game as “Spider-Man” meets “God of War”. Or more simply, God of War as a sandbox game. If any of you played the movie Spider-Man game, it has always been praised for one main thing–it’s degree of open world and exploring. While the God of War series is famous for the intense graphics and bizzare superpower that the hero Kratos has.

This game just combined both of them and created them into one good game. There are endless possibilities here, and it’s up to you to discover it.

Overall Opinion of inFamous (5 out of 5)

Overall, even if the story line isn’t all that it should be, inFamous for the PS3 is simply awesomely fun to play. I would recommend this to anyone who has a PS3, especially since it’s one of the many exclusive PS3 games out there. While the price point on this one might still be a bit high, you can easily rent this one to see if you really like it or not. But, I can almost guarantee that you will as inFamous offers something for every type of gamer, and you won’t find yourself bored here.
