Everquest 2 Beginner Class Guide – Cleric

Page content

Overview

The class system of Everquest 2 is divided into 4 arch-types, and then further divided into alignment specific classes, making a total of twenty-four different classes available. Clerics are in the Priest sub-class, and are powerful healers, buffers, debuffers and also adept at dealing damage. The two Cleric sub-classes are Inquisitor and Templar.

Inquisitor

Inquisitors are the evil subclass of Clerics, and are able to start in Gorowyn, Freeport and Neriak. The races available to Inquisitors are the evil and neutral races. The evil races are Arasai, Iksar, Sarnak, Troll, Ogre, Ratonga and Dark Elves. The neutral races are Human, Barbarian, Half Elf, Erudite, Gnome and Kerran.

Inquisitors are able to wear plate armor, and can take a severe beating in battle if they accidentally draw threat from the tank. They are able to use Hammers, Staves, Great Hammers and Symbols as weapons. They can wear both Bucklers and Symbols for shields.

Inquisitors are a more sadistic version of Templar. While they share powerful heals and buffs, Inquisitors have a much wider variety of debuffs available to them. They are able to heal debuffs cast on themselves and party members and have a fair amount of different resurrection spells as well. They also have more DD spells than their Templar counterparts and are able to solo as well as group well.

Templar

Templar are the “good” subclass of Clerics. They are able to start in both Kelethin and Qeynos, and are playable by all good and neutral races. These include Humans, Barbarians, Erudites, Half Elves, Kerran, Gnomes, Dwarves, Frogloks, Fae, Wood Elves, High Elves and Halflings.

Like their evil counterparts, Templar are able to wear plate armor and can use all the same types of weapons and shields. They are also able to take their share of hits if they gain agro in battles. Templar are not a very powerful soloing class and are more adept at grouping and keeping others alive. This is because they have a low amount of damaging spells and abilities.

Sporting the highest amount of resurrections, heals and cures, Templar are almost a requirement in most groups. They have a small amount of damaging abilities and the ones they do have don’t deal a lot of damage. Instead, they have a wide array of debuffs, cures, defensive buffs and can even send nearby party members to their Home.
