Page content

Overview

The class system of Everquest 2 is divided into 4 sub groups, and then further divided into faction specific classes, making a total of twenty-four different classes available. Warriors are in the Fighter sub-class, and are a melee class through and through. The two Warrior sub-classes are Berserker and Guardian and are available to all races.

Berserkers

Berserkers are the pure embodiment of rage. They are able to use every weapon and shield type available in the game, though most Berserkers choose to dual-wield. Berserkers also have a wide range of abilities that deal damage to many opponents at once, as well as a long list of taunts, including AoE (Area of Effect) taunts.

Berserkers wear plate armor, which allows them to take a fair amount of punishment. In most situations, they perform rather well as tanks, especially with a shield equipped. Their primary stat is Strength, and races with high strength always make good Berserkers.

Berserkers also have a powerful line of abilities that allow them to heal after taking fatal damage and keep fighting. After 36 seconds, if the Berserker hasn’t made up the health difference and is still negative, death ensues. This is ideal for group situations and can allow the healer to keep the Berserker alive well after he should be dead.

Guardians

As opposed to the Berserkers primary focus of dealing damage, the Guardian is oriented around taking it. Guardians are able to wear plate armor, and most of it wearable is among the most defensive in the game. The Guardian as able to use every weapon type available in the game and every shield, and is a must for their tanking.

Most groups cannot function without a well geared Guardian to tank for them. The majority of a Guardians abilities revolve around bolstering defense and generating threat. They also have a unique set of abilities that allows them to intercept damage directed toward another party member. This is especially useful if the Guardian is tanking hard hitting mobs that can drop cloth wearers in just a few hits. Like the Berserker, Guardians are able to prolong their life for a set period of time.

In addition to a Guardians defensive and tanking abilities, they also have a fair amount of damage dealing abilities, made especially for the purpose of soloing. Due to the lack of group situations in the early levels, Guardians have a variety of DoT (Damage over Time) abilities, stun abilities and DD (Direct Damage) abilities.
