    Hey... It's Magic

During the course of Diablo, players will find an array of magic items. While many of these items will be enhanced items based on standardised equipment, such as swords which deal slightly more damage, or armor which is slightly more durable or offers slightly more protection there exists some rare and even unique items.

Unsurprisingly, unique items are the rarest of all items and they each have their own names. Like other magic items they are based on base items, and can have up to six magical effects, whereas more common magic items may only have one or two magical effects. Don't be fooled by the term 'Unique item', however, as you can find more than one of them, even in the same game due to the game's random nature. When playing the single-player game, the game attempts to keep track of the unique items you have found and so attempts to drop you an item that you had not found previously.

In the game there exists are a total of 89 unique items. Eight such items are Quest Items and six cannot be found in multiplayer games and are inherent to the single game only. These items can, however, be used in multiplayer games.

    Random Items

Although in most cases, the unique armour set characteristics never change, where they are found in Diablo does change. Remember, Diablo randomly generates a new game every time you play so you can find these items anywhere and from any monster - even those annoying little ones in the early levels.

Also make sure you loot every chest, sarcophagus and barrel you can find as you never know whats inside! Next, we'll look at rare and unique helms and shields in Diablo.
