    The Styx Marsh

Dante's Inferno boxshot   By this point in the game you should have battled Dante’s father, survived the fire traps and received the Guiding Flame relic. If not review the previous Dante’s Inferno walkthrough.

From you last save point, you will go on to a small circular platform. The platform will then start moving across the deadly marsh area. Fight off flying creatures until you get to land again. Yikes! Lucifer! Brief animation sequence begins where you will need to press Xbox 360 buttons as they appear. After this is another with demons and Lucifer slamming his arm down on the ground. Avoid Lucifer’s attacks and wipe out the other demons. Eventually Lucifer’s slamming will open up the pathway for you to continue to another ledge.

From here collect a soul and health fountain. Another animation sequence appears with Beatrice and Lucifer! Go towards a ledge to swing across to another area. Collect the mana fountain if needed. Pull the lever nearby. This will raise a bridge temporarily. Unfortunately, you can’t get to it just yet. Another battle begins with more hell’s minions and Lucifer who once again tries to damage you with arm slamming attacks. Kill the minions and avoid Lucifer’s attacks. Once the path is clear, you will need to pull the lever and go through to quickly cross the bridge to the other side. Collect the mana fountain if needed.

Another fight! Repeat as you have done before and kill of the hell’s minions until the path clears. This time you will need to watch out for Lucifer’s fire attacks. They are very damaging. After you go through pas this is another animation sequence with Lucifer and Beatrice! Lucifer turns Beatrice into a demon and they vanish into another area. Dante then takes control of a large demon called Phlegyas. This demon is controlled the same way as the giant beast from an earlier section of the game. Note: Use X to swing fists and Y to stomp. Press and hold B to breathe fire.

    City of Dis

Dante's Inferno screenshot   Control Phlegyas and walk down through an area that has a few barriers. Once you reach a ledge that you cannot go any further, enemies will try and attack. Use the stomp attack (Y). The ground will give way and Dante will drop down and land on a rope. Swing across a couple of ropes to a barrier you can break through. Climb back up the rope you are on to the top ledge above you. At this point you can save your game at the Beatrice statue.

To your left is a turnstile lever. Pull it to open up an area that is blocked by spiky teeth looking objects. As you walk back to this area, you will need to fight a few of hell’s minions. Go back to the lever and pull it again. Quickly go down the rope and swing past this area to another vine rope before the spiky teeth move back and block your path. At the bottom of this, jump down to a horizontal rope crossway. Climb to your left. Watch out for fire traps. When you reach the middle of the rope, jump down to a swinging rope. Make your way across a series of these swinging ropes and vines that have fire traps. Kill the flying creatures that appear and carefully time your jumps to avoid damage.

Dante's Inferno screenshot   Once you get past all of these ropes, jump down to a ledge and talk to Virgil. Pick up the health and mana fountains. You will now receive the relic Rage of Farinata. Behind Virgil open the door. Fight a demon that has antlers. Pull the lever to the left, and it will open up a fire barrier. Unfortunately, it also releases more enemies. Do away with them. Walk around the corner to a wall and ledge. Climb up the wall and make your way around to reach another area on the right. Down this pathway is another demon with antlers. Go towards him quickly. Fight him. Watch out. The demon will try to pull a lever that will release fire. Kill him off and walk towards another doorway. Fight off a demon and go through the door. Virgil is there. Talk to him. Behind Virgil is a climbing point on the ledge. Climb down two vine ropes to drop down to a rope crossway. Cross this to reach the other side. Collect the health and mana fountains. You will also see another lost soul you can absolve or punish for bonus souls. At this point you may reach Holy/Unholy level 5.

Moving forward you will need to fight a couple of magic using demons. Beyond them is another area with a climbable wall. Make your way across while timing jumps to get past fire traps. After you get past this, climb down to reach a Beatrice statue. Save your game.

Around the corner are a couple of soul fountains. Fight some more magic using demons and fire creatures. Once the area is clear, pull the lever on the right side. This will open a door in the middle of the room. Go through it quickly. Walk around the corner to a wall. Climb up and make your way up and across to reach another ledge. Once there, talk to Virgil.

    More Traps!

Dante's Inferno screenshot   Pull the wooden block to the center of the room. Quickly slide it forward to block the flames located ahead of you. Climb up the block fast before the flames come back. From here, fight a couple of magic using demons. Pull the lever in the back of the room. This will shut off the flame traps temporarily. To your left is another lost soul you can absolve or punish for bonus souls. Behind this guy is a wall to climb. Watch out for flaming lava! Jump across when the flame passes. Once past this go down a wall on the left side. Open the door straight ahead on the platform.

In this room are heal, mana and Judas coin fountains. There is also a lever and a block that can be pulled. Pull the block to the left of the lever. Pull the lever. After the animation sequence finishes, quickly push the block all the way to the side of the lever. This will prevent it from closing.

You will now need to go back the way you came into this area. You will encounter more flying creatures. Keep moving back to reach a platform that moves. This platform will take you to an upper level. Watch out for more flying creatures and fire traps. At the top of this is a lever. Pulling this lever shuts off the flame traps you just went past. Walk around the pathway to a rope you can climb across. On the other side is a soul fountain. Pull the lever to destroy the statue on a ledge that blocks your path to your right. Climb up this ledge to reach a Beatrice statue. Save your game. Go get a glass of water to cool off - you've still get plenty of hell to go!
